Belwood Lions Pike Derby is the major fundraiser of the year for the Belwood & District Lions Club. Many of our Beneficiaries rely on the support of the fundraising efforts of the Lions to enable them to undertake their activities within the community, to make the lives of all the community members better. The Pike Derby is very fortunate to have many generous sponsors to help with prizes and advertising of the Derby. This support enables us to keep our costs lower, and direct much of the funds raised towards our Beneficiaries.

Considering sponsoring Belwood Lions Pike Derby??
There are several ways in which you can assist in sponsoring the Derby.
- Several of our donors have committed to providing the cash prizes for Adult Longest Pike and Adult Longest Walleye registered.
- The remainder of our prizes for Adults, and for Youth are purchased by us for award. Any of those prizes could be specifically sponsored by, and accredited to you for a donation of the actual cost of the prize package.
- Alternatively, our raffle prizes tend to be another way to donate. Prizes range from Lower Twin Lakes fishing week at $1300 to fishing kits or BBQ/grills in the plus $250 amount. Although we have some sponsors, again many of the prizes are purchased by us. Again any of these prizes could be sponsored by and accredited to you, or you can supply a prize of your own preference.
- The new prize structure which we offer this year are surprise gift bags given to anglers entering qualifying fish for measurement during the two day event. In the past, angler emphasis has been on beating the current largest fish on the scoreboard. Often we have found, a qualifying fish has been released early, when it could have won second third or final place. By giving mystery prizes, we hope to keep anglers more involved with a higher registration count, as well as a fish tally which can perhaps help the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry monitor the health of fish population in Belwood Lake.
- Our thought is the prize could be a lure etc. with an occasional cash card added to generate interest. Again your donation in cash or product would be attributed to you on the product and in our sponsorship listing.
- The Pike Derby and Walleye Tournament is the largest fund raiser that Belwood Lions conducts. Last year (2023), we were able to donate a $9,000 Blanket Warmer to the Oncology Department of Groves Hospital, and make notable contributions to the Food Bank, Diabetes Canada, and The Groves Hub for Youth, among others.
- As with all Lion Clubs, all money raised after basic expense paid is directed to community donations. As Lion members, we do not receive any remuneration for our efforts.
